Aikido class

Laytonville Elementary School is offering a variety of programs described below to provide support to our students.

Reading Intervention: This program is for students who struggle in decoding words, comprehending what they have read or need help writing.

Tutoring: This is offered by individual teachers after school from 2:45-3:30. If parents are interested in tutoring for their students, please contact the classroom teacher.

Afterschool Program (ASES): The purpose of the afterschool program is to provide a safe place for students Kindergarten-8th grade to complete some school work, have time for physical activities and participate in arts and crafts, cooking and gardening projects. This program is for students whose parents or guardians need a place for their children 5 days a week.

English Language Learner Program: The purpose of this program is to guide Non-Native English speakers through the curriculum and enhance their English acquisition.

The Warrior Aikido Project: This is run by Sensei Izzy Arkin on Mondays and Thursdays in the Dojo. Sensei works with many age groups teaching the students Aikido techniques but also incorporating character traits such as perseverance and focus. He also works with students on mindfulness strategies.

Counseling Services: At the elementary school we offer mental health services to students. We have a school psychologist on campus 5 days a week and counselors from other agencies on a variety of days.
